For Procter & Gamble’s global consumer packaged goods operation — spanning 8 regions and 180 countries — the monthly Global S&OP reconciliation was one of the most important processes in the business, and one of the most manual. Reconciling supply and demand across regions ran on error-prone spreadsheets, with no standardization from one region to the next and a long, non-value-adding consolidation every cycle. So P&G partnered with Solvoyo to digitize and standardize the entire reconciliation on a single platform.

A global process running on spreadsheets

At global scale, the reconciliation had become a liability rather than a control point:

  • An Excel-based, error-prone reconciliation process repeated every month
  • No standardization across the 8 regions — each reconciled differently
  • A long, non-value-adding consolidation process that consumed planner time without adding insight
  • A long-standing, manual routine to reconcile supply and demand at a global level

The goals were clear: digitize and standardize the monthly Global S&OP, reduce the planner effort spent on it across the globe, retain corporate memory that otherwise lived in individual spreadsheets, and make it possible to aggregate and disaggregate global data — and run what-if analyses on any dimension — quickly.

How P&G partnered with Solvoyo

Partnering with Solvoyo, P&G moved the reconciliation onto a single digital platform built to maintain global data consistently and standardize master data across every region. On that foundation, reconciliation of data across the organization became automated rather than manual, and the platform retained the corporate memory of how and why decisions were made. Planners gained customizable reports and full visualization of global data, plus the ability to run what-if analyses across any dimension on demand.

The results

  • A single digital platform maintaining global data, with consistent, standardized master data across all regions
  • Automated reconciliation of data across the organization, replacing the manual monthly routine
  • Greater process speed, reducing the time the global reconciliation takes
  • Greater process efficiency through rapid know-how transfer, with corporate memory now held in the platform rather than in individual files

What does this mean for you?

Even at Fortune 100 scale, the biggest planning bottlenecks are often not the decisions themselves but the reconciliation between organizations and regions. Standardize the master data first, put every region on one platform, then automate the reconciliation — and the monthly grind becomes a fast, repeatable process that builds institutional memory instead of burning it.
